A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image. ~Author Unknown
I didn't always know that I wanted to teach. I thought I would be the head of some corporation but it didn't work out because I am too creative, too giving and too loyal for the corporate world. I stayed home to raise a family and while I watched my step son go off to school I realized that a lot has changed since I was in elementary school. The world is a scary place now, more than it was before and the teachers I have encountered so far seem impatient, tired and even scared. I had teachers growing up that impacted my life in negative ways, that even made me hate school. I had teachers later on in life that changed my life for the better. Those teachers who changed me, shaped me, and made me want to learn are who I remember and cherish. A quote from the movie "The Bucket List" stated that "you measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you". I can't imagine a bigger honor than being a teacher who impacts a student's life in such a powerful way. I want to be that kind of teacher. Teaching is not just about fact giving and information sharing but it is about allowing children to become their own people. Teaching is about showing children that they can make a difference in the world. Teaching is about helping children to become decent members of our society. Too often, I have seen teachers focus only on the information they are directed to share with their class and forget or not care about what their children are actually learning. I am dedicated, hard working, loyal, fun, spontaneous, respectful, sensitive but firm, flexible, communicative, confident, fair and consistant. I believe in a biased free classroom where diversity is appreciated, encouraged and celebrated. It is my hope that you and others at your school share my desire to create a classroom that encourages students to grow and learn in their own unique way. It is my hope that you will invite me to begin my journey, my destiny, at your school and with your students. It would be my honor and privledge.
